you with wonder and joy? A visit to Jane Hall The Voice of 'Colour arouses those same emotions.
This renowned artist has teamed up with Pittsburgh Paints to` bring her
signa
ture style to a new store on the Danforth, which takes clients on a unique
home decor adventure.
The stunning Europeanstyle showroom offers an exclusive home collection
of artwork, custom painted - and upholstered furniture, plus bedding,
throws, cushions, area rugs, and 225 colours of paint. Each of six room
vignettes
evokes a different mood with inspired colour combinations.
In fact, to call this a "showroom"-is to somehow diminish it,
for it has the aura and feel of a highly personal space. Hall and partner
Ian Levack don't tell you how colours work, they show you. The visual
feast - a glorious palette of mustard, fuschia, avocado, yellow gold,
burnt orange,
and other breathtaking' hues' demonstrate a quasi-spiritual. connection
with colour. The custom-painted fabric which upholsters Hall's chairs
and spans her elegant wrought-iron
screens is but one example. |
After years of designing fabric and painting murals - including many
for the Second CUP chain - Hall was moved to do her own paintings and custom furniture. Levack creates and designs
home furnishing products on a licensing basis; among others,. he designed
the
first Royal Doulton licensing program for home fumishings.
The store's dramatic room vignettes were created by Zerick Garner, the
third member of the team, who has worked for 35 years in eclectic areas
of the design' and decor world.
Jane Hall is one of only a handful of North American retailers carrying
the whim
sisal Solo line of upscale furniture. Created by Toronto-area craftsman
Joe Salerno, these custom high-guality sofas and chairs, with their-strong
hues and curving lines, are a perfect complement to Hall's fearless approach
to colour.
You won't find any paint cans on the floor; customers order the paint,
which is delivered to their homes. In-store consulting, home visits,
and a contracting
service are all part of the Jane Hall experience.
The buzz of excitement that's surroundd the store since its opening continues
