The Voice of Color's Jane Hall delighted.
Hall and partner Ian Levack threw open the doors of their Pape Avenue home
design and decor store, Jane Hall: The Voice of Color, for an exclusive
cocktail party recently to thank their clients and celebrate their latest
success.
Although The Voice of Color has been open for less than a year, the unique
concept is already winning raves, picking up a slew of celebrity clients
and a significant retail award along the way.
The duo recently won the prestigious $50,000 ARC (Achievement in New Retail
Concepts) Award, presented by Cadillac Fairview in recognition of the store's
exciting and innovative approach.
"It's about bringing colour into one's life," Hall explained
as she sat on a brilliant tangerine love seat in one of the store's dramatic
room
vignettes.
"
We Canadians live in so much grey most of the year, why do we want
that in our homes?" Hall's award-winning approach is to dazzle
the eye and appeal to all the senses with her use of Pittsburgh Paints, elegant fabrics and sumptuous furnishings
showcased in various ,rooms' in the store.
"I'm anti-beige," Hall confessed with a grin, adding that colour
evokes an emotional response in people, whether it's the passion stirred
by reds
or the calming effect of rich blues.
" We Canadians live in so much grey most of the year, why do we want that
in our homes? ... I'm anti-beige."
And now that so many people are on the move in the GTA thanks to record
home sales, Hall's services as an in-home or in-store consultant are
in even more in demand. "Colour helps you take emotional possession of
the house," she explained. "They may move in the boxes, but they
never move in emotionally. Colour " makes people feel differently
about themselves and the home."
